So your thinking of buying a mini crib?

Hi and welcome to my site.

My name is Joel Pearce and I have been helping parents buy there mini crib bedding and mini cribs for the last two years. I started this site to give parents more information about the mini crib and provide you with the good and the not so good points of a mini crib.

Now I know your thinking to yourself why should I trust you! What do you know about baby cribs? Well my wife and I have 4 children and we have bought just about every crib available. We had a mini crib for our first two children as we had very limited space. I'm guessing your in the same situation and that's the whole reason your looking for a mini crib.

Before I get to the mini cribs I want to give you a quick run down on the different types of baby cribs available. This way it will give you a better understanding of the good features and the bad features of the more common baby cribs. Companies simply don't offer this info they just want to sell you a crib full stop.

So lets begin with your normal standard baby crib.

The best thing about a standard baby crib is probably the amount of different bedding you can buy. There are literally hundreds of different designs, themes and you can buy the bedding just about anywhere. This is great especially if you know what theme you wish to go with for your baby's nursery. There is also a variety of different styles to chose from like the canopy cribs which are a very stylish addition to any nursery. They truly are a great crib if you have the room, but not so good for small apartments or if you have limited space.

Good Point's - Easy to buy bedding and they last a long time.

Bad Points - Big and bulky, takes a little longer to assemble and can get a little pricey.

Next portable play yards with bassinet.

These truly are a great invention as they can be taken anywhere you wish. Great for going away on holidays, for the grandparents place when they babysit or just about anywhere you need a place for your baby to sleep when your out and about. They come with the bassinet that simply clips on top of the crib so there's you don't need to bend over to far to place and pick up your child. That's also great for the safety of your baby. The can be easily packed up and usually come with a carry bag so they are perfect solution for parents on the go.

But I don't recommend these as there is some issues that company's don't seem to mention. One of the first things you hear is they can be set up in around 30-60 seconds. From my personal experience that is a lie!! I have lost count of how many times I had trouble setting these up. They simply won't click into place and you end up getting very very frustrated. Not only that it does become a very serious safety concern as it did collapse with our child in it one day. That was the end of that crib and that's why I don't recommend them to anyone
"Period".

Good Points - Can be taken anywhere, comes with a bassinet and carry bag.

Bad Points - Hard to set up and very dangerous.

Now to mini cribs and the reason your here!!

These are great for parents with limited space and there very easily portable. Assembly is pretty quick and there light weight so they can be moved around with minimal effort. They have four height adjustment settings so you can adjust them as your baby grows.
The other great feature is it can be converted to a toddlers bed later on when your child is ready. The biggest trouble we had with the mini crib is getting good quality bedding.

It is very hard to get and it did take us quite a bit of time to find it. If you thinking of buying mini crib bedding from company's like baby's r us and so on, I would think again because they are cheap but the quality of the bedding is terrible. Trust me on this one it's like cardboard don't waste your money.

Another issue we found when we first received the mini crib, is it only comes with a foam pad "This is not a mattress it just pad" So you will need to purchase a mattress also to save yourself disappointment and have a comfortable sleeping place for your baby.

I also want to mention a little about the time span of a mini crib. The reason I want to mention this is because no one else does. Now this depends on the parents of the child? If you are small boned well you shouldn't have to many issues but if you are big bone you are going to find you baby is going to out grow the crib in around 8 months or so.

Even though the crib itself converts to a toddlers bed it is still to early for your child to sleep in it. So you are going to find you need to make other arrangements further on down the line.

Good Points - Easy to put together, light weight, very portable, converts to a toddlers bed and great for small places.

Bad Points - Hard to find bedding and your baby can out grow the crib.

OK that's my rap on baby cribs and I hope this has given you a better idea of what to expect when buying your baby crib.

Oh I almost forgot for good quality mini crib bedding or porta crib bedding make sure you order from SHEET WORLD. If you buy anywhere else you will be disappointed. But that's entirely your decision, I'm just pointing that out because I want you to get the best bedding available for your baby.

Thank you for your time and I wish you and your family the very best in the future.

Kind Regards

Joel Pearce.
